A tour into historic Rye, one of the most unspoilt coastal towns in the country . Rye is small, perfectly preserved and bursting with history , from its place as one the "ancient towns" in Norman times , supporting the " cinque ports" , formed to protect the coast and trade with other countries . It's also bursting with music as it's the International Jazz Festival this weekend.
Rye became notorious for smuggling and the infamous Hawkhurst gang were known to operate here. Small enough to have largely escaped modern development yet with a wealth of history , this should be a great day out for all ( suitable for children aged 10 plus ) with jazz on the streets as well.
Tickets are £7
Look forward to seeing you there,
Nick
