After two decades of shared stages, sweat-soaked encores and spontaneous musical conversation, Thomas Bromley and Mark Pilcher bring their electrifying live chemistry to The Grapevine Jazz Bar with “BROMLEY Vs PILCHER – JAZZ SESSIONS.”

Fresh from their 2025 mini European tour — travelling from intimate Kent venues to a celebrated finale in Honfleur — the duo return home to deliver what they do best: raw, groove-driven, soul-infused jazz performed entirely in the moment.

A Telepathic Musical Connection

For over 20 years, Bromley and Pilcher have crafted a near-telepathic connection on stage. No gimmicks. No safety nets. Just instinct, groove and fearless musicianship.

Thomas Bromley’s rich, Motown-soaked voice blends seamlessly with his expressive jazz and blues guitar work, while Mark Pilcher’s groove-defined drumming drives the music with power, finesse and swing. The result? A live experience that feels spontaneous, authentic and deeply rooted in the traditions of jazz, soul and blues — yet undeniably contemporary.

Thomas Bromley

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Bromley brings over 25 years of live performance experience. Previously signed to 4 Real Records, Bromley has earned a reputation for his distinctive, raw organic tone and compelling songwriting.

Growing up in Kent, Tom began gigging at just 14 in local pubs before studying guitar and piano at college and honing his craft on the London circuit. His original material — catchy, soulful and rhythmically alive — has built him a loyal and growing following.

As praised by Jazz UK:

“A versatile performer… Real talent.”

Mark Pilcher

A jazz-trained drummer and percussionist with more than 25 years of live experience across jazz, blues, soul and funk, Mark Pilcher draws inspiration from legends including Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Joe Morello and Jo Jones.

From performing with local world music outfit Pass the Cat to playing in 2015 in the renowned Japanese “Jazz City” of Utsunomiya — hometown of global jazz icons Sadao Watanabe and Haruhiko Takauchi — Pilcher’s playing combines technical skills with deep rhythmic intuition.

The Show

“BROMLEY Vs PILCHER – JAZZ SESSIONS” is not a battle — it’s a conversation. A dynamic interplay of soulful vocals, blues-inflected guitar lines and groove-heavy percussion, delivered with the kind of chemistry that only comes from decades of collaboration.

Expect:

Raw Motown-infused vocals

Jazz & blues guitar in full flow

Groove-led, swing-driven drums

Original material alongside inspired improvisation

An intimate, high-energy live atmosphere

For lovers of authentic, live jazz with soul at its core, this is not to miss.
