The Drawtones

It’s been just over 7 years since keyboard maestro Rod Pooley formed his jazz, funk and soul band “The Drawtones”.

In that time they have become one of the fastest rising bands on the UK jazz scene. They’ve supported Curtis Stigers and Avery Sunshine and have worked with some illustrious special guests such as Derek Nash, Jim Mullen, Dennis Rollins, Martin Shaw, Jon Scott, Alex Clarke and Phil Veacock.

In addition they’ve appeared at several top jazz venues and festivals. Apart from being a regular here at the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival, The Drawtones have played Ronnie Scott’s several times, PizzaExpress Soho, Chelsea and Maidstone, the EFG London Jazz Festival, The Hideaway and Fleece Jazz Club to name just a few.

Their set here at Rye is going to feature their brand new album (their 4th) “Hammond Low Down”. Tracks will include music from Horace Silver, Grover Washington Jr, Booker T Jones, George Duke, George Harrison, Billy Preston plus some originals too.
