A Night at the Silent Movies

Back by popular demand! The Rye Wurlitzer Academy (Registered Charity Number 1161821) proudly presents A Night at the Silent Movies Buster Keaton Double Bill.

One Week (1920) HOME

Sherlock Jr (1924)

Join us for an evening at the pictures just the way it used to be!

Enjoy top silent films with live musical accompaniment by Michael Wooldridge on the 1925 Wurlitzer Organ
Sherlock Junior – Keaton plays a cinema projectionist who aspires to become a detective.

His attempts to court the girl of his dreams are thwarted by the underhand tactics of a rival, while back at the cinema he dreams himself into a film as the detective Sherlock Jr. Keaton’s physical performance is, by turns, audacious and sublime, his choreography and mastery of arresting images ensuring that this relatively brief film remains richly imaginative and remarkably modern.

One Week – Buster and Sybil exit a chapel as newlyweds. Amongst the gifts is a portable house you easily put together in one week. It doesn’t help that Buster’s rival for Sybil switches the numbers on the crates containing the house parts with hilarious consequences!

Admission Includes Popcorn & Crisps!

Adults £10.00 Children (16 & Under) Free
