I have found this wonderful web-site and registered in the hope that I am able to find out more about the Southerden family. My name is Muriel Davie and I am the grand-daughter of Charles Southerden Davie who married Minnie Gillah. Charles’s parents (my Great parents) were Geroge Davie and Charlotte Southerden. Charlotte is the daughter of John Southerden and Eliza Greenstreet. Incidentially having seen a picture of Hookey Southerden it is like looking at a picuture oif my Father.
A few weeks ago I visited Sussex and Kent and went to the Rye Heritage Centre to see if I could obtain literature re Hookey. The lady in there was in fact related to him and put us in touch with other Southerdens who we visited. Our trip turned out better than we could ever have expected.
I have quite a bit of data re the Southerdens and can also fill in any info’ anybody may like re the Davie family.
I would love to know more about the Davie side of the family especially if anyone knows more about the Hannah Budden who married Joseph Davie.
All the Davie’s were in the RN and Coastguards.

Dear Barrie I think Charles Hookey might have been my mothers great grandfather.My mother was Edith Annie Winchcombe (nee Southerden)her father was Frederick Henry and was born at Camber sands. My sister in law has a picture which has a sign for Spencer Southerden coach painting. I hope we might be related
