Rye Creative Centre’s resident artist, Paula MacArthur, is leading photopolymer etching workshops once a month in our print room.
These friendly, one-day workshops are suitable for absolute beginners through to experienced printmakers who’d like to learn a new technique.
In the morning you’ll make your etching plates in Paula’s studio upstairs by exposing photopolymer plates to UV light through black and white transparencies and developing the plates in warm water. There’s a break for lunch (please bring a packed lunch) and then the workshop moves into to the print room to pull some prints in the afternoon, using the Rochat etching press. We supply disposable gloves, but please bring an apron or overalls – it can get messy!
