The 1958 British classic, starring John Mills and Richard Attenborough, with music by Malcolm Arnold, provides a starring role for Camber Sands, which stood in for the Belgian beach. Part of Rye Harbour became a reconstruction of Dunkirk town, and St Mary’s church Rye is visible in the background. The thousands of extras as soldiers on the beach included many locals – see if you recognise any of them! Free drink for anyone who appeared as an extra!
