Join the commanding Rye Town Crier, Paul Goring, on a gentle walk around the ‘Antient Town’ of Rye. He will reveal its fascinating, strange and sometimes grim history. Discover more about the Cinque Port and find out about the artists, pirates, fishermen, witches and writers who shaped it. Visit the Town Hall and see the gibbet still containing the skull of John Breads, the butcher accused of murder. You don’t have to be a tourist to enjoy this walk – even true Ryers will learn something new! Please note the walk is on cobbled streets. Sensible shoes are advised.
