Based on Helen MacDonald’s best-selling book, the film follows Helen (Claire Foy), who, after the sudden death of her father (Brendan Gleeson), loses herself in the memories of their time together birding and exploring the natural world. She adopts Mabel, a wild goshawk and trains her to hunt and to fly free, helping her to negotiate her profound grief at her loss. But as she concentrates all her energy and attention on Mabel, she discovers how deeply she has neglected her own emotions and life. What begins as an act of endurance transforms into an intimate journey of resilience and healing. (7pm start, doors 6.30)
