Afternoon in Paris featuring Mike Hatchard

Mike Hatchard, acclaimed Jazz singer, pianist and composer brings his stellar cohorts to Rye Communitry Centre for a fabulous and entertaining programme ‘Afternoon in Paris’ with a gypsy jazz, hot club style performance!

Mike’s formidable career as a musician includes being pianist for the national Jazz Youth Orchestra, Cleo Laine’s accompanist as a member of Johnny Dankworth’s quintet and Matt Monro’s musical director. He is also an accomplished violinist.

Jeremy Young started his professional career in the early 1990s in South Wales working in theatre shows, and as a rock musician. In 2005 he discovered Django Reinhardt and immersed himself in learning not only jazz but the unique Manouche, gypsy jazz rhythm guitar and picking style. Jeremy is also in demand as a soloist and rhythm player. As well as performing in venues all over Wales and the U.K, Jeremy has worked as a musician in Germany, Denmark, Ireland and Poland. In his spare time he is a secret luthier, building beautiful acoustic guitars.

Susanna Warren studied classical clarinet and piano at the Birmingham Conservatoire and chamber music at The Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. She has since performed in show bands, orchestras, ensembles and as a soloist in many fabulous places and circumstances all over the world (some less fabulous than others!). Susanna started playing gypsy jazz in 2007 when the idea was suggested to her by the gentleman who was moving her sofa. She writes a lot of her own material and occasionally plays sax with Jeremy’s rock band L.A.F.
