Rye in East Sussex Town Guide

Dick Pearce former Landlord Ypres Pub

I was sad to learn of the death of Dick recently. I have spent many happy hours in his pubs in days long gone. I know his death will represent the end of an era for many who used his pub back then.

I can think of no more fitting an end to his life than partying with friends and family in the pub he loved as if it were human, with the song “Forever ,Young” being sung. I think that would do for me too!

His daughter Jackie said that he just wanted them to raise a glass to him on his passing – Well Dick, it’s early for a drink and I am not a great drinker but I have a glass here with me now and I raise it to you with fond memories.
