Rye in East Sussex Town Guide

Super Website

What a super website! Easy to use and it seems to have attracted some intelligent questions and comments!

My husband and I are visiting Rye for 4 days in early May. Too early, sadly, to enjoy a guided walk, taking in E F Benson’s ‘Tilling’ houses, such as Mallards and Grebe. According to this site, these don’t start until towards the end of May. However, I would like to know if there are any novels which have been set in or near Rye (not Benson’s Mapp & Lucia books – I have those? I have read (and enjoyed) Nina Dufort’s Painting Out Oscar and Defrosting Edmund, but who else has used Rye and environs in their fiction? I like to read novels set in the places I am visiting.
