We proudly present, in conjunction with the Rye Film Club, two classic black and white films, both shot locally. The Loves of Joanna Godden stars Googie Withers and tells the story of a young woman who inherits a farm on the Romney Marsh. Written by Sheila Kaye-Smith, with a screenplay by H. E. Bates and a score by Ralph Vaughan Williams it truly was a classic of its time! The Quiet Woman is a tale of smuggling (what else?), set in Rye Harbour at a pub of the title name with a new feisty landlady, Jane Hylton.
