Rye in East Sussex Town Guide

Accommodation

Warning! Tunbridge wells tourist office has reported that a B&B provider had a couple walk out without paying after staying 2 weeks. They did the same thing in Maidstone a month ago. The police are keen to trace them as the man said he was working for the police, and often stayed in the premises and spent time on his laptop. Both in their mid to lat 20s. She is petite, approx 5ft2 and blond. He is approx 5ft7, stocky with auburn curly hair. Any information, contact Peter Jeffrey on [reveal tel] .

Hello there. Myself and three friends will be descending on Rye from Newcastle at the end of March for the “All Tomorrows Parties” music festival at Camber Sands. It’s something of a trip as you might imagine, and we were hoping to travel a day early and stay overnight. Can anyone fill us in with nearby (and reasonable) accomodation? Cheers.

    Robin Butcher: Hi Robin!
If money’s no object, go for the stunning and very old (15th century) Mermaid Inn, complete with priest hole and smuggling legends.

Or for a cheaper option, selfcater in two adjacent heavily timbered old cottages, which between them sleep 8 – look up Freedom Holiday Homes, references RH1044 26, Church Square, and RH1002 Hucksteps Row. I’ve stayed in the Hucksteps Row cottage, and it’s a gem.

    Hi
we are coming back to Rye in July, we used to live in Wishward. We need 3 bedrooms for 2 nights (17th and 18th July.) Want to be in the heart of Rye not on outskirts. Is it cheaper to go for 3 rooms or a house. Basically Gandma and Grandpa, Mum and dad and son with his girlfriend. Need something nice at least 3 start.
    Thanks
    Tara
