Does anyone know the information on which the black plaque at 101 High St is based: “The House of Gill Clockmakers from 1680 to 1791 – Daniel Gill Banker 1791”? Otherwise can anyone tell me who put the plaque there and when, so that I may contact them? I’ve tried Rye Museum without success and am awaiting a response from Rye Town council who will have authorised the plaque. Thanks.
